Tata Motors has launched Tata Tigor EV on 31 August, 2021. After the good market response of Tata Nexon EV, Tata Motors is expecting the same performance from Tata Tigor EV.

The ex-showroom price for Tata Tigor EV starts from 11.99 Lakhs and with this, it is one of the most affordable all electric four wheeler in India. The Tata Tigor EV comes in three variants i.e. XE, XM, and XZ+ with the the ex-showroom price of 11.99 Lakh, 12.49 Lakh and 12.99 Lakh respectively.

The famous Ziptron Technology which was used earlier in Nexon EV proved to be a success. Tata Tigor EV is also based on the same Ziptron Technology with some powerful upgrades.

Ziptron Technology

Ziptron Technology is a Tata Motors’ self innovated technology which makes the electric vehicles more powerful, less noisy and hassle free to run. The three main components of the electric vehicles based on Ziptron architecture includes a Battery, a Motor, and Power Electronics.


8 Years Warranty On Battery

The 26 kWh Lithium-Ion battery with support to fast charging is used in the battery architecture. Tata Motors claims that the battery setup is tested for over 1 million kilometers. The best thing about the battery is that it has a warranty of 8 years.

Because the battery is an expensive unit in the e-vehicles so any issues with the battery will be taken care of by the Tata Motors itself for the first 8 years.

IP67 Rated Battery

The battery is IP67 rated, which means that the battery has protection against dust and water.

For those who do not know about IP ratings, IP stands for Ingress Protection. These codes define the protection of products from dust, sand and water. The first number after IP gives the protection against sand and can be anywhere between 0 to 6 where zero means no protection and 6 means 100% protection. The second number after the IP is for water protection and it ranges from 0 to 8.

IP67 means 100% protection from dust and sand, and protection from water for 30 minutes in up to 1 meter water depth.


Efficient Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

In the Ziptron architecture, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors are used which boost the overall efficiency of the vehicle. These are a type of AC Synchronous motors where the field is generated by the permanent magnets. These are also known as 3-Phase brushless permanent sine wave motor.

The main advantage of this motor is that these are less noisy, faster and provide a high and smoother torque when compared to its contemporaries.

There is a warranty of 1,60,000 KM on both battery and motor.
